FINAL DRAMA CLUB MEETING

When: Tuesday May 29th, 2pm – 2:30

Where: Middle School Auditorium

More details…

We want to gather one more time to say our goodbyes and make some end-of-year announcements. The Spring 2013 show will be announced at this meeting, along with production dates. We would like to encourage present and future members, so if you have friends who are interested in joining next year, please encourage them to attend. Current 8th graders who are “graduating” are also welcome to join us.

If you cannot attend, please check the website next week, as we will post information about next year’s show online.

We are also looking for approximately five responsible 7th or 8th grade students to help with some final end-of-year cleanup & storage after the meeting. You will be needed until approximately 3pm. If you are interested in helping out, please send Ms. Kole an email or check in with her in person. Thanks in advance! :)

Emergency Throat Tea

Considering this is cold/flu season, I wanted to share a secret recipe for an emergency tea “potion” that I’ve used before prior to shows when I’ve been feeling under the weather.

Caution: This does not taste good!! If you wake up with a scratchy throat though and are worried about your voice, it’s a good quick-fix. Please take care of yourselves, and refrain from excessive shouting, screeching, etc.

Combine the following:

  • 1 mugful or cupful hot tea (any kind you want- but preferably not caffeinated)
  • 1 – 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 – 3 tbsp orange juice
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • dash of cayenne pepper

Performance Reminders & Updates

We hope you are enjoying your afternoon off and resting those voices! Please read this post thoroughly for reminders about performances. See you tomorrow!!! :)

Call Time:

Your call time will always be 2 hours prior to performances (5pm for Thurs & Fri and 12 noon for Sat.) We strongly suggest you do your hair and makeup at home before arriving at school, as there will be limited space for curling irons, hot rollers, straighteners, etc. Please report to your assigned classrooms upon arriving at the school. If your parent/guardian is donating baked goods to the bake sale, please have them bring food to the cafeteria.

Librettos:

Those of you who received librettos, there will be a box in Room 105 for you to return your books. Please make sure that all marks are erased, and then sign your name on the sheet provided to ensure that the directors know that the librettos were returned. Lost or damaged librettos will result in a fine of $30. All librettos MUST be returned by the end of the final show on Sat 3/31.

Running Time:

The approximate running time of the play, with intermission, is a little over 2 hours. Please build in another half hour for pickup times, to allow time for changing out of costume and cleaning up classrooms. (Pickup time for students on Thurs & Fri would be 9:30pm.)

 Strike:

Please remember that strike will be after the final performance on Sat 3/31. Strike is scheduled to finish at 6pm. If there are any parents who would like to help out with strike, please get in touch with Ms. Kole ASAP.

Cast/Crew Party Reminder

Just a couple reminders about the Cast/Crew party! A few of our fabulous parents have gotten together to plan a fun party for the cast & crew. Click HERE for dates/times, etc.

Mrs. Burke will be coming to one of our dress rehearsals for a final call for cast/crew party tickets. Tickets are $6. Please remember that no one will be admitted to the cast/crew party without a ticket, as the tickets are the way for these parents to know how many people will be attending (and how much food to order.)

If you have questions, please ask Mrs. Burke next week!

Hair/Makeup

Good morning Seussians! I hope you are all enjoying your weekend. Many of you have been asking about hair & makeup, so here’s a post outlining some general guidelines.

Please remember that you will have a limited amount of time at school between call time & show time, so it is recommended that you arrive at school with your hair & makeup already complete. We strongly suggest that you do not share makeup supplies, especially eye makeup tools, as that is how infections are easily spread.

Lastly, none of these requirements are set in stone, and you are absolutely allowed to get creative and play around with your makeup. As long as you are wearing some form of stage makeup, your directors will be happy! That said, please be mindful of your role and the way your other cast members are wearing their makeup. (I.E. There shouldn’t be one cadet or one hunter that sticks out because of makeup or hair.)

Attention: Parents/Guardians!

Good afternoon parents of Seussians! It is absolutely crazy how fast time has gone- a week from today, it will be opening night!!!! :)

We are still in need of some parent volunteers for the ticket window and bake sale (especially for selling items at the bake sale.) We’ve gotten some fabulous volunteers so far, but they will need help!!! If you are interested, please email Ms. Kole ASAP: diana.kole@wilmington.k12.ma.us

Thank you in advance! This production couldn’t be possible without “amayzing” parents like you, and we appreciate all your support!
